Amanda PilatesAbout Me

Welcome to Speen Pilates, from an idea in 2016 to opening the doors in September 2018 it’s a purposed built studio in the heart of the Chilterns, offering Mat and Reformer Pilates for one to ones, duets, and small group classes.

Based in Speen and in easy distance of Amersham, Beaconsfield, Chesham, High Wycombe and more locally Great Missenden and Princes Risborough.

The Studio has underfloor heating, sound system and air filtration for your comfort, everything you may need is provided for you at the Studio.

I have been a Pilates Foundation teacher for many years originally training with Allison Swan at Barnet General in 2005

Each year I continue to develop my knowledge and expertise by attending workshops and events held by the world’s foremost Pilates teachers.

My aim is to help my clients achieve their movement goals and that for each one of them is different. For some it is rehabbing from illness and injury and for others it’s to improve their ability when horse riding, improving their golf handicap or set a PB when running. For others it’s the joy of playing with their grandchildren and being able to get up afterwards!

I am never happier than when I see my clients progressing and growing steadily stronger, able to move with ease, pain free and have a good understanding of their bodies.

Most of my clients are looking for a private space to exercise on a one-to-one basis using the Reformer and mat to get a bespoke workout, accelerating their learning, and achieving their goals.

I follow a strict code of ethics and code of conduct as laid down by the Pilates Foundation I am fully insured and have a current first aid certificate.

“Having attended Pilates classes with Amanda for a year and a half I would, without hesitation or reservation, sing her praises and whole heartedly recommend anybody wishing to make their body more comfortable, flexible, well balanced and well prepared to be able to cope with the physical challenges of everyday life and the years ahead as they get older to go to Pilates sessions with her. Amanda is an excellent and extremely knowledgeable and experienced teacher who tailors her classes to best meet the needs of each participant and to be hugely beneficial to us all. She has a large range of accessories (all equipment and accessories for the classes are provided by Amanda) that we use in the classes to enhance the benefit that we get from exercises and movements. She always takes great care to make sure that we don’t do anything that could have a negative impact on us, as well as offering alternative versions of exercises to cater to the needs of us all. She very kindly shares her knowledge with us, giving us a much greater understanding of what we are doing and why, as well as helpful advice enabling us to know the best exercises for us to do at home to maintain the benefits that we get from her classes on our own during the time in between them. Her classes have a small group and a lovely relaxed, friendly, no pressure (we all work to our own abilities and within our comfort zones), uplifting and happy atmosphere and are a pleasure to attend. We all feel much better for having done them by the end! I can’t thank Amanda enough for the huge difference that she and her classes have made to my understanding of how my body works and how to best look after it and prevent/reduce any pain or discomfort that I get as well as all the enjoyment of the classes themselves. My husband has also started having sessions with Amanda and has been massively impressed by what a difference they make to him and how much better his body now moves and feels as well as how much knowledge he has now gained regarding how to move and use his body.

Thank you so very much Amanda! I have already recommended you to a lot of my friends and neighbours!" - Glenda Chambers
